PM Modi asks Sports Ministry to promote International Yoga Day in IPL 2017 – Indian Premier League has now become a huge brand which has the ability to attract millions of viewers for a single match. IPL is all set to kick off on 5th April 2017. IPL season 10 will start with last year’s finale match between RCB and SRH. Royal Challengers Bangalore will face the defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad in an away match. Looking at the glamour and ability of the event to grab world’s attention, PM Modi has requested the Sports & Youth Affairs Ministry to promote International Yoga Day during IPL 10.

India and rest of the cricketing nations are eagerly waiting for IPL 2017 to begin but Indian Prime Minister has some other plans. He is leaving no stone unturned for making 2017 International Yoga Day a massive hit event. PM Modi believes that IPL is the best platform to promote the yoga concept in front of the whole world. This decision was taken and sent to respective ministries earlier this month after a brainstorming session meeting called by PM.

This season is the 10th anniversary of IPL and is set to begin on 5th April with defending champions SRH taking on RCB at Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad. The season will continue till 21st May 2017 where big names like Chris Gayle, ABD, Steve Smith, Kieron Pollard will be a part of. Now since the PM of India has made some request, it would be interesting to see how the sports and youth affairs ministry achieves this goal. During the meeting held earlier this month, PM Modi discussed the important measures to be taken to increase the popularity of this worldwide event. The PMO has also decided to felicitate the people who promote Yoga in India and abroad. The plan also includes encouraging IITs and IIMs to include Yoga as the extracurricular activities.
